Thriving Through Play

Kenya’s Ministry of Health (2021) highlights that 50% of all mental health cases begin before the age of 14 years, yet access to child focused mental health is overlooked.

Voices in play under the thriving through play project is a concept that aims to amplify the voices of children using play by combining approaches that involves clinical play for children with severe mental health condition and community play as a practice in Korogocho community.

The concept involves strengthening the already existing play spaces, identifying safe play spaces and linking children who may need additional clinical support for therapy support that leverages play therapy.

Another component to this concept is positive parenting, where parents and children will be encouraged to play together to improve communication and relationships.
